I am trying to find a WVO/SVO co-op in or around San Francisco.
I am also up to starting a new co-op, though would definitely need some help.
Either way I could use some tips, tricks, and suggestions.
Any ideas or takers?
Peace,
George

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Thu, April 27, 2006 - 6:19 PMHey there! more power to you for trying to start this up!
I'll share our ideas from the Vermont coop:
Set up one WVO processing and filling station using Dana Linscott's dewater&filter plans. then share the expense of the setup ~$150 and share the work of acquiring, transporting, and processing the oil.
If you'd like to, try joining the national WVo network at www.fillup4free.com and post there about wanting to set up your local coop. The network is growing steadily at a rate of about 4 people per day. It's in its infancy, but it is gathering momentum quickly. So...sign up and post in the forum and post some pictures in the photo gallery and even submit a news item, etc...

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Mon, May 8, 2006 - 2:51 PMThanks Kristopher.
I am already registered at fillup4free, so I will try a post.
One of the issues I have is available space. Of which I have none. I have time, money and energy, though lack the space to house the filtration system.
This is my biggest obstacle.
Thanks again for your tips.

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Mon, May 8, 2006 - 8:10 PMHiya,
I'm in the process of starting one in Minneapolis... It'd be interesting to exchange ideas.
How to get started? Find people? Models for making it work? If you ever want to chat, drop me a line. I think it would be a cool model to get some space at one of the local food coops, use volunteers to pick up oil from restaurants, and have a filtering station, and then charge a small fee for the processed stuff, based on whatever the overhead is...Or, if it's done right, no fee... everything's done by volunteers...
By the way, there's some people on www.frappr.com/burningthemidnightgrease in your area.
Good luck! -

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Sat, July 22, 2006 - 1:20 PMHey George,
I live in San Francisco, have a Dodge Cummins pickup that I will be converting soon. I might be getting an extra 100 gal tank and have a trailer that we would mount them and a pump to, this could make space a lot easier to deal with. I'd like to talk more with you about this.

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Mon, September 11, 2006 - 8:20 AMhi, I live near S.F also and want to get involved with a co-op. How is your project going? I have a bunch of oil that I need to get rid of, I don't have the time right now to convert to bio-diesel.

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Fri, November 9, 2007 - 7:45 AMsend me an email. i live in SF and have time to set up a functioning coop that focuses on collection, filtration and storage. we can find somewhere cheap to do the filtering. from what i understand, WVO doesn't have the same hang-ups as biodiesel in the legal department. -

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 4:11 PMLikewise, I have space and room to expand, possibly even to industrial scale.
Would love to share the load and the fillups with others. Collection and processing can suck up a fair amount of time when you're doing it yourself.
I'm in the East Bay near the Bay Bridge, but collect in SF also. -

Re: WVO/SVO co-op in/near San Francisco
Wed, May 21, 2008 - 4:19 PMHey Guys,
A couple of friends and I are in the process of starting an WVO Co-Op in the Berkeley Area. Are there any up and running in this area that could use a couple of new members? We all have diesel trucks and work flexible schedules making us available for pick ups etc.
Please let me know here or at dkw1624 at Yahoo
Thanks,
Dave
